Atrovent – Keeping Asthma under control

Atrovent is used as a treatment for the two components of asthma – airway inflammation and constriction. These two components due to narrowing the airways reduce airflow in the lungs, which can lead to wheezing, chest tightness or shortness of breath. Atrovent is a breath-activated device, eliminating all the squeezing and shaking of inhalers and spacers of hassle.

Asthma is a chronic and very serious lung condition. It is characterized by breathing difficulties. People with asthma have extra sensitive or hyperresponsive Airways. The airways react by shrinking or blocks when they become irritated. This makes it difficult for air to move in and out. How Atrovent treat asthma?

People with asthma who are taking medicines that salmeterol may have an increased chance of asthma-related death. Atrovent therefore is not for people whose asthma is under control, another controller medicine.

If your asthma does not improve while taking Atrovent talk with your doctor. Tell your doctor if you have heart disease or hypertension. Some people may experience increased blood pressure, heart rate, or changes in heart rate. Atrovent is for patients aged at least 4 years.
