Atrovent is used as a treatment for the two components of asthma – airway inflammation and constriction. Atrovent is a medicine of a class called bronchodilators. Atrovent is used to treat and sustain a treatment for lung problems and conditions.
Atrovent is used in the treatment of lung diseases such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Atrovent works by relaxing the muscles around the airways such that they will open up such that air can flow more easily inside your lungs.

As it is mentioned this drug is a type of bronchodilator, which makes it useful in preventing brinchospasm attacks.
